How to Create and Assign Option Groups to Products (New Backoffice)

In this article, you will learn how to create an option group and assign it to a product in the new backoffice.
Option groups help you offer choices such as sizes, toppings, or extras. They also allow you to structure your menu and include upsell options, which creates a more flexible ordering experience and helping increase order value.

Create a New Option Group
Access Menu Management
Log into your DISH POS Backoffice. On the main dashboard, use the navigation sidebar on the left side of your screen and click on Menu Management (located below the Home tab).
Navigate to Option Group
Once the Menu Management menu expands, a list of sub-categories will appear. Scroll down and click on Option Groups. To create a new option group on the list, click on Create a new option group button at the upper right side.
Adding Option Group details
In the creation screen:
- Enter a Name (e.g., Sizes,Extras, Toppings)
- Under number of options, define how many choices a customer can select
- Under Add individual choices to group, add the options customers can pick from:
- Use Add options to o select predefined items that customers can choose from (e.g. Small, Medium, Large or extra toppings). These can include individual pricing per option.
- Use Add note for special instructions (e.g. “No Onions” or “Extra sauce”).
- Use Add product to upsell to offer additional items alongside the selection, helping you increase order value (e.g. add a drink or side item).
Finalizing
Once all necessary details are entered, click Save. Your option group is now created and ready to use.
Assign an Option Group to a Product
Navigate to Products
From the main Dashboard, scroll down and select Products under Menu Management. This section gives you a full overview of your product list, where you can search, edit, delete - or create new entries. In the product list, find the product you want to assign to the Option Group you previously created and click Edit.
Assigning Products to Option Groups
Scroll down to Attach Option Group and click Select Option Group. There, choose the Option Group you want to assign the product to and click to check the checkboxes. Once done, click Save to store your changes. Also optional, you can scroll to Upsell product section, and enter the Upselling price if the product you have is offered together with options in an option group.
