In this article, you will learn how to Duplicate Products and Options in DISH POS Backoffice.

Managing your menu efficiently is key to running smooth daily restaurant operations. Rather than creating new items from scratch, the DISH POS Backoffice allows you to duplicate existing products and options in just a few steps. 

15 STEPS

1. To get started, log in to your DISH POS Backoffice dashboard. From the left-hand navigation menu, select Menu Management to access your catalog settings.

2. Under the expanded Menu Management tab, click on Products to view your complete list of menu items.

3. Locate the product you wish to duplicate in your list. Click the three dots (...) located next to the Edit button on the right side of that product's row.

4. A dropdown menu will appear. Click Duplicate to create a copy of the selected item.

5. In the Duplicate a product window, update the basic item details, such as the Name, Short Product Name, Price, and VAT category, to match your new product.

6. Scroll down to the Include in menu section to assign this new product to specific menus. You can also set an Upsell price if you plan to offer this product as an add-on or upgraded option.

7. Further down, you can customize the item by attaching relevant Option Groups (such as cooking preferences or add-ons) and assigning Production Properties (like kitchen print routing).

8. Review your entries to ensure accuracy, then click the orange Save button in the bottom right corner.

9. Next, to duplicate an item option, return to the Menu Management tab in the sidebar and select Options.

10. Find the option you want to copy from your list. Click the three dots (...) next to the Edit button for that specific entry.

11. From the action menu, select Duplicate.

12. Fill in the required information for your new option, including the new Name, Price, and applicable VAT settings.

13. Assign your duplicated option to its respective Option Group (option menu) so it displays correctly during order entry.

14. Once all details are properly configured, click Save in the bottom right corner to finalize.

15. That's it! You have successfully duplicated your products and options. Your DISH POS system is updated and ready to go.

Part 1: Duplicating a Product

Access Menu Management

Log in to your DISH POS Backoffice dashboard. From the main side menu, click on Menu Management. 

Go to Products

Under the expanded Menu Management section, select Products to view your full menu item list. 

Select the Product to Copy

Locate the item you wish to duplicate. On the right side of that product's row, click the three dots (...) next to the Edit button. 

Choose "Duplicate"

Select Duplicate from the dropdown menu. 

Edit the Product Information

In the Duplicate a product settings page, update the item details:

• Name & Short Name: Enter the new product name. 
• Price & VAT: Set the price and verify the correct tax rate. 

Configure Menus & Upsell Settings

• Include in menu: Assign the new product to your active menus (e.g., Dinner menu). 
• Upsell product: Define an upselling price if this item will be offered as a add-on upgrade. 

Assign Option Groups & Kitchen Printers

• Attach option group: Link modifier menus (e.g., cooking temp, side choices). 
• Production property: Select the workstation or kitchen printer where order tickets should be sent. 

Save Your Changes

Review your configuration and click Save at the bottom of the screen. 

Part 2: Duplicating an Option

If you offer item modifiers such as extra toppings, side portions, or size adjustments, you can duplicate existing options just as quickly. 

Open the Options Section

In the Menu Management sidebar menu, select Options. 

Select the Option to Copy

Find the option you want to replicate. Click the three dots (...) next to the Edit button on that option’s row. 

Choose “Duplicate”

Click Duplicate from the action menu. 

Enter New Option Details

In the option configuration window:

• Enter the new Name (e.g., Duplicate of Bacon). 
• Set the Price and VAT settings. 

Link to an Option Group

Under Include in option group, select the appropriate group (e.g., Toppings) so the option appears correctly during order entry. 

Save Your Option

Click Save in the bottom right corner. You have now successfully duplicated your products and options. Your DISH POS system is updated and ready to process orders with your new menu items!
